Delta’s technologies and IoT based building management solutions for intelligent buildings save energy and enhance security

Smart buildings and intelligent building management are major components in any smart city plan. Three major aspects must always be considered: networking and infrastructure; energy and the environment; and security and personal safety. And smart buildings also need to be financially feasible for investors, operators, and service providers. That means they must be economical to build, expand, manage, and maintain.

The core feature of smart buildings is the seamless communication between the individual smart devices. Innovative solutions accommodate different protocols to assure smooth interoperation. The power supply and the energy efficiency of the building are also important. What technologies are available for generating electricity without harming the environment? How can you store and distribute energy reliably, and how intelligent is the entire energy system? And finally, what solutions are available to limit the time and expense involved?

It’s essential that smart buildings remain safe, livable, and comfortable spaces for the people who visit and use them. This goes beyond solutions for heating, air conditioning, lighting, elevators, and charging stations for electric automobiles. It also involves emergency planning (fire drills, emergency exits, evacuation plans, emergency power), access control, and parking lot surveillance as well as the integrated management of all these systems and capabilities.

At Hannover Messe, the Delta subsidiaries LOYTEC and VIVOTEK will be presenting their latest smart building automation solutions for easy monitoring and management of rooms and buildings. Smart Lighting control, indoor environment comfort, people occupancy and counting, sun blinds and curtains automation are just some of the applications their technologies cover. In combination with Delta’s intelligent building energy management system (BEMS) and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) management system, these solutions can reduce energy consumption by more than 50 percent.

Smart building solutions from Delta are based on the Internet of Things (IoT). Delta uses state-of-the-art information and communications technologies to make buildings secure, reliable, convenient, energy-efficient, productive, and sustainable. Delta’s own EMEA headquarters in the Netherlands shows what the company’s smart building solutions are capable of. After Delta renovated the building, energy costs sank by 45 percent.
